HAZID Participants Training

$920.00 +GST

This 1-day in-house course is aimed at developing the skills of attendees of HAZID reviews. A hazard identification study (HAZID) is a structured and systematic examination of a planned or existing process or operation in order to identify and evaluate problems that may represent risks to personnel or equipment or prevent efficient operation. A HAZID review also generates an in-depth understanding of the process for all participants, leading to a more robust and reliable facility

Description

This course can be run online or face-to-face

HAZID (Hazard Identification) is a structured process for identifying potential hazards and assessing the risks associated with a system, process or activity.  HAZID is used in a variety of situations, including:

  • Detailed design phase: To identify deviations from the design intent and ensure safe operation.
  • Operational processes: To identify potential hazards and operability issues.
  • Modification and retrofit projects: To ensure that changes do not introduce new hazards.

Key features of HAZID:

  • Proactive – HAZID is used early in the design or operational phase of a project to identify hazards before they become apparent.
  • Multidisciplinary – A team with expertise in different aspects of the system or process, such as engineering, operations, maintenance, and safety, is involved.
  • Systematic – HAZID involves a systematic analysis that considers various scenarios to identify hazards and deviations from normal operating conditions.
  • Goal – The goal of HAZID is to establish preventive measures to minimize the likelihood and impact of potential hazards.

A HAZID workshop team usually consists of 6 – 10 persons. Depending on the scope and size of the review, it can take anything from a few hours to a few days. Having a review team that is familiar with the processes of the review not only significantly improves the quality of the outcome but will also shorten the duration of the review.

This course is aimed at operators, engineers, designers, and maintenance personnel who will at some point be part of a HAZID review team. The objectives of this course are to convey the benefits of HAZID and the role of the HAZID review in the process safety framework. It will familiarise the participants with the structure and methods of the workshop, enabling them to be more effective and efficient team members. The course will also increase the participants’ ability to identify and assess process hazards outside of a review.

The 1-day Safety Solutions Hazard Identification (HAZID) Participants course is facilitated by an industry expert in hazard assessments.

Course content:

  • Overview of standard HAZID and related risk assessment processes.
  • Company procedures and best practice guidelines to get the most out of your HAZID studies.
  • Understanding when to run a HAZID within a project scope or before certain activities.
  • Preparation and agenda for workshop meetings.
  • Reporting/Action Management.
  • Templates for workshop minutes, reports and opening presentations.
  • Practice running HAZID workshops in small teams – shared learnings for facilitators, scribes and participants.
